BUILD THE HOUSE ON THE ROCK

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24

I needed a new outside kitchen shed for charcoal cooking and called a mason. “You can use this pile of cement bricks left from the classroom.”

“Jesus told us to build our foundations out of rocks because they are strong.” The mason put his hands on his hips.

“Yes. Rocks make a stronger foundation.”

The mason nodded. “I will build the foundation out of rocks which are very solid. There are many at the river.”

I smiled. “What should we do with these cement bricks?”

“We can use them for the walls.”

Who can argue with logic based on scripture? Even relationships and plans when put together by the Lord can endure most anything.

Many of my friends and I have supported each other and weathered all types of storms over 20, 30 or 40 years.  I thank the Lord for our Christ-centered relationships that seem almost as firm as rock-solid buildings.

If we constructed marriages, buildings and programs on firm foundations, maybe nothing would collapse.

Blessings,

Have a great week,

Celeste
