STORMS OF LIFE

“He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and unrighteous.” Matthew 5:45

The roof leaked so badly I changed seats three times while reading one chapter. The water didn’t ruin the cement floor, nor did it hurt the four wooden chairs and table. Still the dripping rain made it a challenge to study the Bible.

Rain, tornados, hurricanes, floods and other forces of nature are indiscriminate. The rain doesn’t fall like blessings and provisions on the good people. Hurricanes and tornados don’t just destroy the property of bad folks. Earthquakes and floods, like sickness, poverty and death do not hit the unrighteous, but everyone. Forces of nature come against all people.

If our lives are established on Christ Jesus the solid rock, we will not collapse. When the storms of life crash down, break windows of trust and carry away shutters of hope, we can rebuild walls, rooms and roofs if the foundation is unshaken. And perhaps in rebuilding we will come out stronger, better and more secure.

Storms of life will beat us down, put cracks in our walls of love or shatter our doors of faith. But if our houses and lives are on the rock, we will not collapse.

We can stand and endure most things if our foundations are solid. Our strength and faith may be bashed, ripped or worn down, but we will not cave in or be destroyed.

Let the rains crash down and beat on me because I am grounded on the rock and will stand.

“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7:25

Have a great week enjoying Christ’s richest blessings,

Celeste
