LIGHTS

“You are the light of the world.”  Matthew 5:14

We are the shining lights in this dark world. During the evening services we each held a small lit candle and were asked to stand closer together. As all our little lights blended, it illuminated the darkened church.

And a little tune from Vacation Bible school ran through my mind.

This little light of mine. I’m gonna let it shine.

This little light of mine. I’m gonna let it shine.

This little light of mine. I’m gonna let it shine.

Let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine.

Won’t let Satan blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine.

Won’t let Satan blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine.

Let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine.

Leaving the church, we extinguished our lights. But as Christians the light of Jesus in us should keep shining. It should be a beacon of hope, healing and Heaven to those around us. And it’s only a waste of energy and time if we allow unforgiveness, impatience, selfishness, anger, hate and bitterness to hide Christ’s light in us.

Let your light shine. And may it be a symbol of hope reflecting Christ in 2012.

Until next Saturday,

Celeste
