REPENT

“I tell you no. But except you repent you shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:1-5)

Repent means to regret or be sorry for your thoughts and actions. Turn away from them.

Several men in our village complained that they could never give up all the pleasures in the world that the Christians in the church had surrendered.

Some told me, “It isn’t easy for any man to stop getting drunk, going to pagan parties, and sleeping with women. What man can truly leave all this?”

Are you sorry for doing these things?  If you are, turn all the way around, a hundred and eighty degrees so they are behind you. If they’re no longer in your line of vision to tempt you, it’s easier to abandon them.

What would you do if you came upon an erupting volcano, with lava pouring toward you? You’d turn away from it and run, leaving it behind you. That’s what you do with sins.

Walk away, leave them and go in the opposite direction toward your Lord and Savior. And Christ will give you strength.

When a man acknowledges his sins by repenting, God gives him power to overcome them.

Repent. Turn your back and walk away from your sins.
