Don’t give up

“Be not weary in doing good for in due season you will reap.” Galatians 6:9

Question. “You spent 30 years in Africa, treating the sick, saving children and sharing the Gospel, why weren’t there more converts?”

Answer 1. We are commanded to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. God didn’t say how many converts there would be as a result.

Answer 2. We are called to plant, weed, and harvest where God puts us. The Lord gives the increase.

Answer 3.  Africa is called the dark continent because it is controlled by Satan who is the power of darkness. It takes longer to break through that evil.

Answer 4. The hot climate and infertile terrain force Africans to struggle from day to day and hand to mouth to exist, many can’t even imagine a better life.

Answer 5. Ruling authorities often discourage missionaries and Christian evangelists. Tribal wars, military coups, and changing governments make it difficult for many Christian workers to stay in a country.

Answer 6. People who have compassion get so overwhelmed by poverty, disease, and the lack of basic essentials like clean water, adequate food, clothing and shelter, that evangelism may not be emphasized.

Answer 7.  It takes years of showing positive visual benefits of a better way before people are likely to leave dangerous religions, harmful traditions and superstitious beliefs that have been pounded into their minds for hundreds of centuries.

Answer 8. FEAR of avenging gods, evil spirits, and angry ancestors make any break away from a present life style, religion, or set of social norms hard.

What do you think is the answer?

And what is the point of trying to evangelize?

Don’t give up. Wherever God has sent you, do what He has called you to do.

“Be not weary in doing good for in due season you will reap.” Galatians 6:9
