Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Mrs. Susu was a hardworking Christian with eight children. She was faithful to her husband and prayed for him to accept Jesus.

One evening Mr. Susu brought home a second wife who was six months pregnant with his child. He boasted of having several more wives and children in town.

Mrs. Susu kept praying, going to church, and raising her children as Christians.

But one day the two oldest boys refused to attend church and decided to follow their father to worship idols. Mrs. Susu was disappointed and sad but kept praying. Several months later, the sons saw their father horribly abuse their mother. Then the father abandoned all his children and wives. Mrs. Susu’s sons realized their father’s life style was wrong, so the boys returned to church with their mother and rededicated their lives to God.

Mrs. Susu sometimes mourned and felt sad over her heartaches and disappointments, but God blessed her with sweet children who became Christians and served the Lord with her.

Lord, thank you for comforting others who mourn. Thank you for your comfort when we mourn.
