Matthew 5:21-22 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment. But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again anyone who says to his brother, Raca is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, you fool will be in danger of the fire of hell.”

An elder asked me to hire his nephew to build my outside bathing stall. The young man recently returned to the village after a long absence.  The elder hoped I would encourage the nephew to accept Christ and live for Him, since the young man was always getting into trouble.  But he said he wasn’t ready to believe in Jesus.

He was a good mason. His wife and three of their five children carried water and dirt for him. The family worked well together. Throughout the day I heard their laughter from my home. After they finished the bathing stall, I paid the wages.

A few days later, the mason stole a gun and murdered his wife. The mother was nursing her baby when she was shot. The infant survived but the bullet grazed the baby’s head.

It was illegal to possess a gun.

Military officers and policemen took over our village searching for clues of where to find him. He became a national fugitive.

The shock of this murder shook the entire village. Neighbors later confessed they heard him shouting in anger at his wife.

Lord, help us to control our anger.
