“Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
I had a Wednesday Good News Club for the village children. I needed rocks for a mud wall around my house and the children needed soap. So for every ten rocks they brought they could earn a bar of soap.
Joy was the first to bring ten rocks. Then she called me to count them.
“Your rocks are too small.” I said. “They are only the size of oranges and they should be the size of grapefruits, but that’s all right. Bring four additional rocks and you can have the soap.
A few minutes later I saw a new pile of large rocks. I asked “Whom do these rocks belong too?”
They belonged to Joy. She had abandoned her ten small rocks and started over to bring the required rocks. She walked to the river with the other children to find the larger rocks and do a good job.
Her first effort was not her best and she knew it. So she started again to do her best.
Let us also be perfect in everything we do.
