Matthew 6:1-4

“Be careful not to do your acts of righteousness before men, to be seen by them. If you do you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth; they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

The village pastor needed a bicycle and I wanted to buy him one but didn’t want anyone to know. I didn’t want him to stand in front of the church and tell people. So I called the deacons and explained that I wanted to give the bicycle secretly.  They agreed to buy it for me and deliver it.

That Sunday the pastor gave this speech. We thank God for this bicycle and we thank God for the person the Lord used to provide this bicycle. We pray for this person to stay healthy. We thank God that this person is rich enough to buy this bicycle. We pray God will keep blessing this person with finances.

I wanted to do it anonymously, but I was the only who had the money to buy it. So it was hard to keep it a secret.
