Matthew 6:31-32 “So do not worry, saying what shall we eat? Or What shall we drink?” or what shall we wear for the pagan run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”

During the dry season fresh produce was rare. One evening I was cooking rice and beef in gravy for supper and wishing I had vegetables.

As I stirred the sauce, a young man with a basket of cabbages on his head came to the house.  I’d never seen cabbages there and knew of no one in the area who grew them, but for forty cents I had a nice cabbage and made coleslaw for supper. There was lots of  leftover cabbage for a week.

The man was trying to grow white man’s food to sell to Americans who lived in the city. So I made an arrangement with him to come to my house every week that he had vegetables to sell.

God provides today and will provide tomorrow.

God knows what we need. There’s no point in worrying because the Lord will provide it, if we need it.
