Matthew 7:6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and rend you to pieces.”

There are times even missionaries might cast their pearls of kindness and compassion to unbelievers who are not ready to receive God’s Word.

One of the missionaries insisted on treating a villager who had an injured leg. The missionary cleaned and dressed the wound of the unbeliever even though he did not want the white man to touch him. But the missionary maintained it was for the  wounded man’s own good.

And isn’t God’s love and salvation for our own good?

The following day the missionary met the unbeliever in the village. He had taken off the dressings and gone to the traditional healer, who had covered the wound with black slime and green leaves. The African man had more confidence in native medicine than in the treatment of the white man and was not ready to accept anything from a Christian.

If someone does not want to hear God’s Word or accept our help as Christians, and we force them, it might just backfire.

Be careful not to cast your pearls before pigs.
