Matthew 9:2 “Some men brought to him a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, son, your sins are forgiven.”

Why would Jesus tell a paralyzed man that his sins are forgiven?

But then He healed the man because the Son of God has power both to forgive and heal.

Maybe if our souls are sick and we are in need of forgiveness and a relationship with the Savior, we should first focus on that. Then we can seek physical healing.
Two thousand years ago, people knew Jesus could heal because they saw the miracles. He healed many people during his earthly ministry.
Today, people know and believe God can forgive sins but sometimes doubt He heals diseases.

The man’s spiritual state was Christ’s first concern. Our spiritual state should be our first concern.

This man could not walk, but did he know Jesus? Why else would Jesus first say, “Take heart, son, your sins are forgiven.”
