Matthew 10:5-7 “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this message. The Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
The message is clear. “The Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

No one knows the moment of his death. No one knows if a sickness might suddenly take him or if he might get killed in an accident.
No one knows when Christ will return and usher in His eternal Kingdom. No one knows the future
So Jesus tells us to preach the message that the Kingdom of Heaven is near. It is nearer today than it was yesterday.

I used to think life in Africa was far more uncertain than life in the States. Without adequate medical facilities, both children and adults seemed to die more frequently. Tropical diseases. Deadly snakes. So much over there could take a life.

I now think life everywhere is uncertain. An unexpected diagnosis of malignant cancer. A hurricane or earthquake. Shooting.

So many different things could take one of us.

Either way, “The kingdom of heaven is near.”
