I DID NOT COME TO BRING PEACE, BUT A SWORD

Matthew 10:34-35 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
Jesus talks about the persecution of Christians.
Almost ten years ago Pastor Tim and two other African pastors in a neighboring country were captured and told if they did not renounce Christ, they would die.
I’d never met these men but had worked with several members of their church to prepare health classes.
These faithful men were beheaded when they did not abandon Christ.
Christ did not come to bring peace but a sword.
In so many places in the world this is more obvious and common.
