WHO DO PEOPLE SAY THE SON OF MAN IS?

Matthew 16:13 “When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
The disciples answered Jesus with the most common views of the crowds. Some said, “John, the Baptist.” Others said, “Elijah.” Some said, “Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”
Jesus already knew what the crowds had believed and said. So why did Jesus ask the question?
Like any good evangelist and teacher he asked a general question before getting to the more specific question for the disciples in verse 15.
And what is that?
