Matthew 18:23-25 “Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.

If we tried to be good and do what was right all the time, we would fail because of our sin.

Our great debt of sin can consume us and control us. We become slaves to sin. “The wages of sin is death.” The only payment we will receive after a life of sin will be eternal damnation.

We cannot pay this debt of sin.

Christ paid the debt by bearing our sins on His own body on the cross.

We no longer have a debt before God.

The debt has been paid.
